Transition to University Life

Making the decision to attend university is one of the most important investments you will make for your future and choosing where you live, particularly in your first year of study is a vital ingredient in ensuring that you have a smooth transition from school to university. Many of our students come from relatively small towns and communities where they know almost everyone to study at The University of Melbourne where they know only a few people. Living in College provides a welcoming home and friends to support you in this new journey and to offer assistance in adjusting to university life. Joining a College provides an instant set of friends and peers who are experiencing the same challenges, changes and feelings as you, as well as senior students who can offer advice and directions especially during the first weeks. St Mary's provides a range of support mechanisms and information to ensure the process is as smooth and also as much fun as possible.

Some texts you may find useful on the transition process include;
