Activities

University study offers an excellent opportunity to either continue your interests and passions from school or to take advantage of the wide range of activities available to become involved with new sports or cultural interests. St Mary’s College students participate in University based events as well as the busy schedule of College activities including the Intercollegiate sporting, arts and cultural programmes and competitions.

Sports

St Mary’s sporting calendar includes involvement in the Intercollegiate Sporting competitions softball, cricket, swimming, tennis, netball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, rowing, athletics, squash, badminton and table tennis. Students have the advantage of being located next door to the excellent University Sports facilities including the opportunity to join University sports teams.

Cultural Activities

Cultural events in College take a variety of forms to encourage students to share their talents with both the College and externally. Each year the College stages a drama production, musical recitals, the ‘JCR Jam’, a variety style evening where all kinds of performances are welcomed from music to comedy skits and MadFest, a concert presentation of the musical and dramatic talents of the College community. In addition students are rostered to provide music at High Tables each week.

Speakers on a wide-ranging series of topics are regularly invited to address students at Dinner and are available to spend time with students over coffee afterwards.

Social Events

Social events are a great way to meet fellow students from within the College and the wider College and university communities. The College Ball is an annual highlight and regular ‘turns’ held each semester are very popular. Other events have included ‘coffee crawls’, lawn bowls, trivia nights and Easter Egg hunts.
